Kayak Fishing and Nature Tours
Kayak fishing is taking the fishing world by storm. We've purchased two Hobie Quest Kayaks and have outfitted them for fishing. Once you fish from a
kayak you may begin to question why you haven't done it sooner. You are able to work the mangroves more quietly than ever before and working a
school of redfish takes on a whole new dimension.
The key to successfully fishing from a Kayak can be summed up in one word; economy. The craft is small so you should only bring those items which are
essential for hooking and landing fish. We typically only bring 2-3 rods and we scale down our lure selection. I usually bring 8-10 topwater plugs, 8-10
shallow stick baits (X-raps are awesome) and a worm bag with 6-10 types/colors of saltwater plastics (DOA Cal Tails, Flappin Shad), 20lb leader, pliers,
camera, and a lip gripper. A cooler with drinks and snacks and some other essentials (sunscreen, VHF radio, air horn) are also brought along for good
measure.
Here's a few examples of what you can catch from a Yak! And fishing is great even on days you wouldn't expect. I caught an inshore slam (Trout,
Redfish, Snook) on the 4th of July and again on Labor Day! Photo opportunities are limitless as well.

Nature Tours
Not into fishing?
Kayaks are a great way to watch wildlife in the creeks, shallows, and around mangrove islands. Kayaks offer unparrellelled access to wildlife because they
are so unobtrusive and extremely stealthy. In fact they are so quiet that you have to purposefully make a little noise to avoid scaring the manatees as you
approach them. Check out the photos below; they were all taken from our kayaks.
