PinFish Charters - In a Nutshell...
Pinfish Charters is a full service fishing charter business specializing in fishing for Tarpon, Snook, Redfish and Trout.  We primarily fish the
waters around Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Pine Island, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, and Naples.  Because you are the customer
we will operate at your speed; we can go full tilt fishing all day long for one species or slow it down to accommodate a family or business
outing.

This is your Charter
This is your charter; tell me what you want (or don't want) and I'll work together with you to ensure it happens.  A quick phone call to sort out
details is all that's required.  Let me know if there is a certain species you'd like to pursue, a style of fishing you'd like to try, or if special
accommodations are needed for you or the other guests.  Communication is the key so let me know what I need to do to make your trip more
enjoyable.

Basic Charter - Fishing!!!
We determine what fish we're going to target before the charter and plan our trip around where they are biting and how they are feeding.  I
supply custom made rods outfitted with matching reels designed for our target species.  We may use live bait to fish an area known to hold
fish or we may go pound the mangroves or flats with artificial lures prospecting for Snook and Reds.  I'll typically fish Charlotte Harbor,
Matlacha Pass, Pine Island Sound, the Caloosahatchee River, and several miles into the Gulf of Mexico.  If we're going to fish live bait we
usually spend a short time first thing in the morning cast netting bait.

Other Types of Charters
I also offer sightseeing, shelling, bird watching, photography, beach and picnic trips.  I also conduct a number of dolphin and manatee trips;
what better way to see them than from the boat.  We also conduct
KAYAK charters.

Gear
I'm a fishing rod builder so I've outfitted my boat with custom made rods that I designed and built for the fishing conditions we deal with in our
area.  Our spinning and bait casting rods are St. Croix, American Tackle, or Seeker blanks outfitted with Fuji or American Tackle line guides.
We've matched the spinning rods to Diawa and Okuma reels.  We primarily use 10 or 14lb Firewire braided line (20-30lb for tarpon) but also
use Ande mono filament line when line stretch is desired (like when using deep swimming lures for Tarpon).
Fly Rods were also built by me and are either St. Croix or American Tackle rods with REC Recoil Titanium guides.  I've got  8, 10 and 12
weight rods outfitted with Scientific Anglers WF lines.

Boat
I run a 2007 1802 Tournament Edition Action Craft rigged with a 115HP Yamaha engine.  In fact my boat is the one you see in the Action
Craft advertisements in the June 2009 issue of Florida Sportsman.  It's a great boat that tends to be much dryer than other manufactures
boats of the same class.  It's outfitted with a Powerpole, Garmin GPS/Depthfinder, Poling Platform, Moonlighter Push Pole, and an 87lb
Motorguide trolling motor.  I've got a wide selection of artificial baits, plugs, flies, and hooks.  My friends often joke about the fact that I've got
a tackle box dedicated to split-shot sinkers; I like to think I'm just organized.

What do we furnish?
I'll provide the boat, fuel, fishing rods, lures, hooks, bait, fishing licenses, drinking water, ice, and a fun time for our anglers.

What should you bring?
You should bring polarized sun glasses, a hat, sunscreen (we have some on the boat but you might have a favorite brand), sandwiches or
food, snacks, and any special tackle you wish to use during the trip.  This is a small boat and I've got limited hatch space so pack light.
Anything that stays on deck may get wet; I've got a waterproof bag but I urge you to bring your own waterproof bag for safe measure.  You
are certainly  welcome to bring your own rods, flies or tackle but don't feel obligated to do so; I've got the right gear and it's all "top notch".

What we do not, or cannot supply?
Beer, wine, alcohol, or prescription medications.  You are welcome to bring these items but the law prohibits us from providing them.  Also,
consumption of alcohol must be done in moderation; I don't want anyone getting hurt because of an alcohol related incident.

Should you bring your own fishing rods?
You are more than welcome to bring your own fishing rods.  We have storage for everything up to a 9 foot fly rod.  You are also more than
welcome to fish with our fishing rods which are all custom built by me and are of exceptionally high quality.  Our fishing reels are matched to
our fishing rods and are spooled with an appropriate size mono filament or braided fishing line for the fishing we'll be doing.

Where will the charter leave from?
I usually launch from the Punta Rassa boat ramp (next to the Sanibel Causeway), but other departure or pick-up locations can be arranged.
We can meet up at a local ramp, marina, a private dock, or even your hotel.  Please keep in mind that the fish move and if we pick you up
from a dock of your choice we may have to make an extensive run to get to the fish.

Military Discount
I'm offering 10% off normal rates to all U.S. Active Duty personnel and any Disabled Veterans.  You must be able to provide proof of status
via a Military ID card to receive the discount.

Deposit:
We require a $100.00 deposit per fishing day to reserve a charter.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, Checks, and of course, cash.

Inclement Weather
There are many days during the year when bad weather impacts fishing and my primary concern is ensuring that you have fun and SAFE
trip.  We often fish during small craft advisories because we fish shallow, protected areas holding a large number of fish.
I'll give you an opportunity to cancel your charter (and refund your deposit) whenever winds exceed 25 mph.  We frequently catch lots of fish
on windy days but I always reserve the right to cancel a trip.  We may also return to the ramp early if I deem the weather conditions marginal
or unsafe.

Afternoon thunderstorms are a near daily occurrence in SW Florida during the summer months and lightning is the one weather
phenomenon that I don't mess with.  I'll pro-rate the fee based on my hourly rate (for the charter booked) if we are chased off the water early
due to a thunderstorm.

If the weather is deemed unsafe due to a predicable event such as a tropical storm or hurricane in the area, your deposit will be refunded
unless we have agreed otherwise.

Cancellation Policy
Once your charter is reserved, other fishermen requesting that date are turned away.  We require a $100 deposit to hold a booking (see
above). We will refund the deposit (less transaction fees, generally less than $5) if you cancel 30 days (or more) prior to your booking.
Cancellations with less than 30 days notice will result in us keeping the deposit unless we can rebook that date with someone else.  Let us
know early so we can work with you.  We may be able to offer an alternate date/time if you are unable to make your scheduled charter.
